Okay I am so stuck!! I live in the Florida Panhandle and I am 2 semesters from getting my A.A. Degree and I need to decide on a major ASAP! Okay I really like Political Science and Social Science!! I am the first to go to college in my family and feel that if I went to a big state university it would make them that much more proud of me, and it's always been a dream of mine. Well here's the problem with that, I am in between two universities: The University of West Florida and Florida State University-Panama City Campus. UWF offers a lot of different programs and degrees I am interested in, but it's not as well known and it's small. FSU Panama City doesn't offere a whole lot of degrees, BUT they have a degree in interdisciplinary social science, B.A. If I got this degree from FSU-Panama City could I go to law school? Would it look good or not at all?? Any help will be greatly appreciated! I am just so torn between these schools and what major to choose…thanks!

Answer:Florida State University, Panama City (commonly referred to as FSU Panama City, Florida State PC or FSUPC) is located 100 miles (160 km) from the main campus in Tallahassee. Beginning in the early 1980s. Since that time the campus has grown to almost 1,500 students supported by 15 bachelor’s and 19 graduate degree programs. A full-time daytime program was introduced in the fall 2000 semester. It does not have a law school nor a pre-law program.

On the other hand, the University of West Florida in the Department of Government offers a Pre-Law track in the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Minor in Political Science Pre-Law. These programs are designed to give students a head start in their first year of law school.

It appears that the University of West Florida can offer a BA in Political Science with a minor in Political Science Pre-Law better suited for you to move on to a law degree at the Florida State University College of Law

The choice is your to make. Good Luck..

Answer:You want strangers on the internet, with little background information, to make a personal decision for you?

Answer:Law schools usually care little about which state university a student attended or what academic major was taken, except in cases where the student is borderline for admission. The student's grades and Law School Admission Test scores are what ia important.

Since you mentioned it, I will say that interdisiplinary social science is not the best pre-law major as it is not concentrated enough and is often considered too easy. History would be much better. However, as I said, the major is not often a vital factor in admission decisions.

Outside of Florida and nearby areas of adjoining states, neither mentioned university is well known, so I would not let that factor influence your decision, whether you want to go to law school in or out of Florida.
