Ok so I'm going to be a Senior next year but I still have yet decided what I want to do when I grow up and what I want to study in college. I was wondering what you guys think I should do?? Here are a few things that I like or am interested in:

-I like to cook and Bake

-I want to be able to travel

-I like to help people and animals

-I love to volunteer( I was a Big Sister in the Big Brother Big Sister program for 3 years)

-I like to work with my hands

-I love to be creative and unique

I have thought a lot about what I want to do and here are some of the things I thought about:

-Baker/Pastry Artist

-Counselor

-Law Enforcement(I have always thought about being a cop)

- And I thought about joining the Peace Corps

And I want a good career in which I can live conformable and not worry about money

Answer:Why not think about becoming a teacher! You sound like you would make a good teacher! You would have the summers off to travel and you could bake on the weekends. Contrary to popular belief teachers make a decent salary and you would be able to work with children and you could always do service learning projects with your class that would allow you to help people and maybe you could also work with animal charities. Also when you teach bring the projects you do alive and come up with creative ways for you students to participate during class. If you become an elementary school or high school science teacher you would always be working with your hands demonstrating to the students how things are done! Good luck with school I hope this might help you with your career search!

Answer:My personal experience would lead me to tell you to explore everything you wrote on that list . I made the mistake of deciding that I wanted to do something without fully knowing what it really meant on the day to day basis.

So for example, take a profession from your list and be that for a day, week , or month. You can volunteer, shadow, or find an established program that will allow you to try those positions. Also family friends and relatives will be involved in one of those jobs so you can interview them on it.

Another point is that your goals and what you want to do might change along the way so being open minded will help you. Just get good grades and explore as much as you can, and dont commit to doing just one thing for too long, because youre very young.
